Question Dell Inspiron 3583 laptop LCD screen lights up gray

Dell Inspiron 3583 laptop LCD screen lights up gray with some variable moving gray vertical stripes with no image. But works fine when connected via HDMI to external monitor. Help! Thanks!

if the laptop's own display is the only thing that's producing an odd imagery or even no image at all while you're able to get proper display out onto an external panel/monitor, then the issue is very likely the panel on the laptop is dead/faulty and needs replacing. While tethered to an external panel, you could try and use DDU to uninstall (all remnants of)your GPU drivers, then manually reinstall with the latest drivers in an elevated command(if on Windows), i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
