Dell Inspiron 660 case upgrade

Solution
PCpartpicker:

Graphics cards:
a) A GTX650 1GB card is about $65 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-01gp42650kr

b) Since I assume you're gaming, and considering the case and other upgrades I'd recommend a better card like THIS for NVidia:

*The R7-260X is similarly priced to the GTX750Ti but doesn't perform quite as well. Here's the benchmark relationship:

c) POWER SUPPLIES:
For $25 this is the best value. Since the CUSTOMER FEEDBACK score is pretty good it seems relatively reliable:

It's more than sufficient for your computer.

d) CASE: Here are...
1) YES. It just matters what your motherboard is.

It would likely be a micro-ATX or ATX. The case you linked supports either.

2) RAM, PSU, GPU
No problem though you don't ask a question. All will fit.

I can't give any further advice on the parts though your RAM (DDR3?) should be either an identical stick, as close as possible (same frequency and CAS such as 1600MHz C9), or a standalone 2x4GB kit.

Thanks for quick reply! I'm not entirely sure but I have mATX. I have DDR3 kingston hyperx RAM. 2x4GB kit.
How do I find out What is my size on the motherboard? I read on the internet and almost completely sure that I have a mATX.
But want to be 100% sure

I have a dell inspiron 660 "gdg8y" motherboard.
finally found it, here is my motherboard sepcs: http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/dell-gdg8y-motherboard-specifications/

d) CASE: Here are three great cases for $50 or $40:

or

or

e) DDR3 memory (I assume?):

*Make sure you have 64-bit Windows so you support this. May wish to investigate motherboard support but they rarely list most of the compatible memory.

Other:
Investigate if the motherboard has a BIOS update (to support newer memory in some cases).

Summary:
I'm not sure of your current specs but based on what you've said and my look into part cost/quality I recommend the following:

- NZXT 220 case
- 2x4GB DDR3 memory
- EVGA GTX750Ti 2GB video card
- EVGA 430W power supply

That's roughly $300 though should give a really nice upgrade. Don't simply take my word for it that everything is compatible though I can't think of any issues aside from assuming DDR3 memory.

Solution

Just measure it. Standard size for Micro ATX boards is 9.6" by 9.6". ATX is 12" by 9.6".

Update:
a) okay, mATX motherboard. Not a problem.

b) DDR3 memory. okay.
*check pcpartpicker to see if an IDENTICAL stick exists otherwise I recommend a new kit.

c) Case:
Do you need a new case?

I think the 660 looks fine so I don't really see the point. It should support the other parts just fine plus you don't have to remove everything and move it over.

Very well done photonboy! thanks for the time you put in this and I'll buy this system as you said. But my biggest question is the case. I want to upgrade my case first as u said. So I hope that one of the three will work. Thanks!!!
