I have a Dell Inspiron 546 that I always power down for the night. When I turn it on in the morning it always freezes on the splash screen and when I turn it off and back on it boots with no problem.

It only freezes after its been off for a few hours, and its likely going to freeze when I boot it tomorrow.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10
I'm still using its original processor AMD Athlon II x2 240
It came with 2x1GB of RAM that I added another 2x1GB too and recently upgraded to 4x2GB of DDR2 RAM
I went from using integrated graphics to a Nvidia GeForce GT 720 2GB
I'm also still using its original 320GB HDD and I added another 160GB HDD

Any help here is much appreciated.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First, do check for any BIOS update and install it.
- Next is to try to remove the Nvidia GPU and use the onboard graphics card.
- If the PC will work normally using the onboard GPU that could mean that it's the dedicated GPU that is the problem.
- If the same problem will persist do also try testing the RAM's.
- Remove the additional RAM's as well and observe if the same problem will persist or not.
- Lastly, apply new thermal paste on the CPU itself.
