I have a DELL Inspiron n3137 with Windows 8 pre-installed in it.
Recently, I accidently closed the lid without shutting down the device and since then it is stuck in this "Automatic Repair Loop".
The laptop boots and a "Preparing Automatic Repair" flashes and it reboots again in 5-6 seconds. I tried to let it boot for a whole day but there is no progress, the loop continues.
I tried using a flash USB for installing other operating system but it also reboots within 5-6 seconds before I can perform any operation.
Even the BIOS settings reboots within 5-6 seconds .

I am not able to figure out whether the problem is hardware or software related.
Kindly Help.

Try an NVRAM reset; remove the battery and charger, then press and hold the power button for 5 - 10 seconds. Reconnect power and boot up normally again. If you can get to the Windows Troubleshooting options, you can at least attempt repairs then (Startup repair, Restore Point, etc.).
