I have inherited a Dell Inspiron 2320 (yes I know it's old) that has the I5-2400s cpu in it. I like to tinker with older machines . I have read only one thread( not here) that I can up it to a I7-2600s chip. It is an LGA 1155 (edited) motherboard (so I have read)and I was curious if anyone is familiar with this AIO and also if there are other chips that would be compatible? I read that the i7-4790K is the best for the LGA 1155(edited) but concerned of overheating is one I would have considering compact design. I haven't looked inside to see the mainboard itself and would rather not until I know of possible options. So any help is appreciated thanks

You got the wrong socket when you looked it up. The 2nd gen used LGA 1155, as did the 3rd gen.
It might be possible to put in an i7, but if it's 3rd gen, you will most likely need a BIOS update....being that it's a Dell, there are no guarantees they even released a BIOS to support 3rd gen.

I apologize and thank you both for capturing my typos. it is in fact a 1155 socket. I am typing one handed as the other is in s ling and did not catch my fat-fingered error. I edited to show correct socket of lga 1155.

That corrected any adjusted input is appreciated. I confirmed thru Dell a I7-2600s will work, but wanted to know if any others are acceptable. Sorry and thank you.

Well, I was kinda hoping for something faster than 2600s but not as power hungry as the 4790k. So again if anyone has tried please post.

As a follow up question the Dell specs say that there are two full-size Mini-Card slots in this thing (btw haven't received it yet it's n transit from family member) and was looking for suggestions on what would be useful to use these for. Thanks again for all input.
