[SOLVED] Dell Inspiron P87G screen power failure whilst moving hinge.

Hi, slight movement of the hinge results in the screen blacking out. Only at a certain angle is the screen working.
Nudging the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard replicates the fault at any hinge angle. See link to pinterest.
Freeing the cable running through the hinge does not help.
Is this an issue with the
  • connector on the motherboard
  • or should I try to replace the cable?
The laptop is out of warranty now and has had been repaired once before (no details of repair by Dell were provided).

I like this laptop and want to repair it, so any help gratefully received.

Solution
Fixed with new LCD cable in the end. The old one must have been damaged with the constant hinge movement. Als noted that one screw in hinge mount was broken. Seems a common issue as I replaced a hinge mount in a Dell not so long back.
