Hi, I have a Dell Latitude E7440 i7 and most of the time when I power on the laptop I just get a black screen and an illuminated power button.

This is before the Dell logo that I normally see when booting. Sometimes when I power on it boots into Windows just fine (about 1 in 10 times, but most of the time I just get a black screen).

I did a complete system diagnostics test and all components work fine according to it (including the screen), so I have no clue on what the issue may be. Power works too, at least the l

I tried replacing the bios battery and ram so far, but those things didn't resolve the problem.

Does anyone know where the cause of this problem may lie?

If so, please let me know as I really like this laptop and would like to repair it if at all possible.

Thanks, Paul

first , you can try to Connect an external monitor to your laptop . If it work , then you have issues with your laptop screen. but If the external monitor acts just like the screen....then you have motherboard issues .

External monitor acts just like laptop screen. Also screen diagnostics test works fine so there's no issue with the laptop screen.
