hi
been looking around for a decent laptop. i found one on the dell website, ive had dells previously so i know there reasonable machines. this one however states the processor is.

SKL i7-Entry (AMD Exo XT 4GB)

does anyone have any idea what it means, im presuming its the new skylake i7 but apart from that i havent got a clue. and neither does anyone at dell. when ive googled it i cant find anything so i thought ask the good people of tomshardware, someone will know

this is the machine its from
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-17-5759-laptop/pd?oc=cn75908&model_id=inspiron-17-5759-laptop

and this is the machine i was thining of getting
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-17-5759-laptop/pd?oc=cn75902&model_id=inspiron-17-5759-laptop

but i got offered the top on at £750 so i thought id get peoples opinions as well

Googling "SKL i7-Entry (AMD Exo XT 4GB)" yielded no real results.

Considering that the other link you provided is for another "NEW! Inspiron 17 5000-Series (Intel®)" laptop which specifically states it has a 6th generation i5-6200u CPU, I can only assume the "SKL i7-Entry" is also a 6th generation Skylake CPU.

Broadwell and Skylake mobile CPUs uses different sockets so they would be incompatible with each other. Because of that I really doubt Dell will have sell two versions "NEW! Inspiron 17 5000-Series (Intel®)" using an older and newer generation CPU.
