Dell Laptop Screen Upgrade

Hello,

I have a Dell Studio 1440 with a 1366 x 768 screen that has a line through it. I figured while I'm changing out the screen I'd just upgrade it to a 1600 x 900, which was an option from Dell at the time.

I'm wondering if this upgrade would be possible and also if there is a reputable place to get a new screen. I've only found laptopscreen and they don't look very enticing. Thanks in advance.

You're saying that if I can find a screen that it would definitely work? The reason I'm hesitating is because that website is kind of sketchy and I'm not sure about their return policy.

Hopefully someone will swoop in and rescue me from the sketch!

How do you know it is the screen and not the video card?

The only way, I can think of is to hook up an external monitor and verify that the line does not show up. Did you do this?

Yeah, I regularly hook it up to my TV to watch YouTube, so it's definitely the display.

I don't want to spend more than $100, and I'm positive they won't sell me one for less than a few hundred and will likely require me to send in my laptop so they can charge me the labor.

Also, the original configurations were the 1366x768 that I have now and a 1600x900 so 1080p is out.

Actualy they will. I work in thier pro support department

Just ask to speak to out of warranty. Tell them what you want and that you don't need some one to install it and so on.

Lcds are typicaly 70-300ish depending on what youre looking for. Also surprisingly the lcd kits which include the bezel and back cover along with the lcd are some times cheaper than the lcd alone.

So call them, get pricing youd be surprised. Like i had some one with a d630 with a shattered screen. we were out of the 1200x800 lcds, so for shits and giggles i checked the 1440x900 ones and it was surprisingly cheaper for whatever retarded reason.

Be warned a few of the older laptops do have diffrent connector cables for the diffrent lcd sizes...that being said they are typicaly included with the lcd itself.
