Dell Latitude E6430/E6330 OR MacBook pro 13 inch

I have a choice between these three laptops.

Will be using it for general word processing/work/web/programming
I am a research student so may need to run intensive simulations from time to time on it, but this isn't a huge priority as I have access to a powerful desktop.

Not entirely sure which model the Pro is, it seems to have pretty much the same specs as the current pro in the apple store, but says it has 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM. So it could be an older model?

I have never owned a mac, but I am not adverse to trying something new.

Is there any obviously better option here? I don't know much about Dells latitude range.

I would stay away from mac... far far away. They are overly expensive, and they outdate them quick. a Dell laptop will last you much longer, is easily upgradeable and programs are much easier to find.

hmm... are you stuck with those 3 choices as a particular reason? Unlike the poster above... I do not believe there is anything wrong w/ a mac if it suits your needs. However, you need to make sure it does. "intense simulations" .. make sure those are avail for mac and not just PC
