Right now I'm using this keyboard for gaming
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-F8M3Y-KB113P-Computer-Compatible/dp/B009UZQTT2
and this keyboard for typing
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823665002
My WPM with the 212-B is 50 and my CPM is ~250 CPM. Not bad, but certainly nothing special.
I usually use my Ipad for videos and browsing, so I'm used to light taps. As many other people have pointed out on Newegg, the 212-B takes a lot of force to press and I, like the reviewers, constantly miss keystrokes. If I bought a mechanical keyboard, I would probably use it for gaming 95% of the time. I have two questions:
1. Will I see a major difference in typing and gaming with a mechanical Cherry mechanical keyboard over a Dell membrane keyboard?
2. Is it worth 80 to make the switch?
This is the keyboard I'm looking at.

TL;DR Is it worth buying a mechanical keyboard?

Thanks :)

It's commonly known that the mech keyboards are a lot more durable, so when buying it you probably save money in a long run since you buy it once and use it for years. Key presses also feel much more satisfying, which is the biggest plus, and when you get bored with it you may buy a custom set of key caps of which there's a lot to choose from. The quickfire TK will work fine. I'm using the XT version which is basically the same except it has a number pad. I'd recommend to pick one with the tactile switches since they are regarded as better ones for typing and good enough for gaming.
