Question Dell Monitor not recognized after Windows Update

After last Windows update, PC not "talking" to monitor. Both are from Dell and I've spent a multiple days on the phone with them to no avail. Dell XPS-8700 model from 2013. I believe the unit is turning on, but the only message I get is that the monitor is not compatible with the computer. The 27" Dell monitor is only a year old and I haven't had any issues with it. Hooked it up to my laptop and it's fine. Tried both new HDMI cable and adapter.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS.

Windows version(s). Before/after update?

Dell model monitor?

Do you have another monitor or perhaps even a TV that can be connected to the XPS-8700 desktop?

Have you tried booting the desktop into Safe Mode?
