The monitor is Dell, a E228WFPc, 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor 22 inch VGA
There are connector wires inside (paired wires: pink with white and blue with black) that connect into two locations. I don't think there is a problem there so I won't put up a screenshot.
When I try to turn on the monitor with all 4 paired wires plugged in either nothing happens or I have to start with only 3 plugged in. When only 3 are plugged in, it will go on and display correctly for a split second and then turn off. I was able to toggle this by connecting and disconnecting multiple times, and I did get it working twice until it was shut down. The second time I left it on for about 2 hours before shutting down.
I have looked further into this and may have found the problem, a current limiter. The cost is about $10, so I am not sure if it is worth the money to replace. I did a quick resolder job, put it back together, and it still shuts off immediately. One idea is to remove the black covering to see if it is completely blown. That would indicate a new one is needed. Is this worth looking into or should I just replace it and get a new monitor?
