My brother tried reinstalling Windows Vista with a Dell OEM disc but the laptop is a Toshiba, it appears he wiped the Toshiba restore software that is built into the system. The problem is that I dont have a Toshiba OEM disc and the key I have is associated with Toshiba and not the Dell OEM disc I used. Is there a way to correct this without purchasing a recovery disc from Toshiba?

Looking a little deeper the partition that has the Toshiba recovery software is still on the HD but that partition is not active, if I can activate that partition I might actually be able to boot from there and start the Toshiba manual recovery.

If it turns out that the recovery partition is lost, you can use the DELL disk. You just need to change your key to the toshiba key and activate over the phone. The dell disks installs a SLP automatically. You can change it at the phone activation screen.
