So I currently just bought a Dell Optiplex 990 with an i7 2600 intel processor that I want to turn into a decent gaming rig. . Not the small form factor edition. I understand that I will have to upgrade the power supply and the RAM because it only comes with 4 gigs of it. I want to know if this video card will fit into the PC: it is a Gigabyte gtx 760.

That is the link to it on amazon.
Also, is anyone familiar with making these business PC's into gaming rigs? I would greatly appreciate additional help with fixing some certain things. For example, adding additional fans in certain places, which RAM will do best, etc...
Thanks for all the help!!

Hahaha funny I have one sitting in my office as we speak! Oh wait what I have is a 980 XD But still. I specialize in dells since I have been selling them and working on them for a living for the past 8 years now.

A few things. You CAN upgrade the PSU to what ever you want regardless of what anyone says. It takes a standard ATX PSU and no special plugs (The 980 uses a Mini 20 Pin and not a standard 24 Pin. The new X020 (3,5,7) Optiplexs and up use a new 8 pin but there are adapters for that. The X040 use TFX PSU's.

Now the only thing that is going to stop you is the HDD Brackets. That is your length limit on your Video Card. I don't have one with that case (the X90-X020 all uses same chassis) so i can't measure it and tell you you can't fit it but I think a 760 will be too long. Try to find a Mini card like a Mini 1050 or a GTX 750Ti. Those should fit without issue. Also those PCIe slots WILL take 75W Graphics cards. I have tossed big cards in these things before.

Now If you REALLY wanted to use this machine, it is a standard ATX board and CAN be moved to another case. You won't have an I/O plate for the back though as it is part of the case.

Also you could, if you don't mind ripping your case apart, remove the rivits for the HDD enclosure and then buy a HDD Caddy/Adapter to put it in the extra 5.25 bay. That or get a 2.5 Adapter Bay so you can add more than 1 hard drive (Think they have them that can hold 4 2.5 inch drives in a single 5.25 bay). This will free up the entire length of the case. Also though Air flow is got the greatest in these things.

There will be No over clocking, I think 32Gb is max Ram (Might be 16) It is limited to 1333mhz ram i think as well. No over clocking and yo won't be able to upgrade the CPU heat stink either without heavy modification.

Will removing the rivits be easy? Just as ripping only the HDD enclosure off or will i really have to mess with the entire case. Will the RAM be in the way as well? Also, what RAM do you recommend? Can you link it on amazon? And where will i put caddy?
