I want to find out which Graphic Card will be suitable for my Dell Optiplex 3010 Mini Tower. I want to be able to play GTA 5 and other high demanding games
please feel free to share your opinions

Solution

The mini tower only has a 265 watt PSU, look at the power supply power connections to the motherboard and see if it has the standard 20 or 24 pin connection. If not, you will be stuck with using a low end video card, like a 730 GDDR5 or a 740. A 750 may also work for you, non-Ti to be safe. It's a bit hard to find though, new they are too pricey, but there are a few refurb units available http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125799&cm_re=750-_-14-125-799-_-Product

If you can upgrade the power supply you have a lot more options. The lower end gaming cards will run GTA V on low setting pretty smoothly.

What is the difference between the 20 and the 24 pin connector

If your goal is to play new high-end games like GTA5, I don't know how you get there without also upgrading the CPU, RAM and power supply.

You mean what pin connector to my motherboard

Yes, it actually looks like the 3010 has a standard 24 pin connection, the 3020 has a custom one.

From what I can see, it uses a regular size power supply, for a lower power card like a 750 Ti, this would be an excellent one to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151074

Keep in mind that your CPU will hold back a game like GTA V at past low settings, you may want to think about replacing the CPU at some point also, or just selling the system and building one, or starting with a faster office tower with an i5.

EVGA is good to get, what is your budget for the video card? While your CPU is so-so for gaming, it can probably run things pretty well up to the medium range of cards, nVidia GTX 950 is a good one now for the price, you can find them about $120 after rebates/sales. If your budget is a bit lower, GTX 750 Ti is good, just get the 2 GB models.

That is a lower quality PSU from EVGA and you also have a used unit there, I would not get that. This is good and cheap, plenty of power for a 750 Ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371033

Same thing for the video card, you can get a new 750 Ti for about 90-100, no need to get a used one.

wait for the AMD RX 470 nd RX 460 cards , they will be double speed and lower power . dont rush now ... also soon the gtx 1050 cards will come ... the new generation is double the speed .. just wait 1 month

You have to compromise somewhere then, you won't get a video card to run demanding games past low with that budget. If you are OK with taking a chance on used parts, then get a used video card. If you want new stuff with a full warranty, then you will be either with poor quality parts or with low settings.

Power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026 $40

I would not go any cheaper on the power supply.

GTX 750 ti is a 60 watt GPU , he does not need new power for that at all.

If it was a Seasonic 265 watt PSU and not a Dell OEM motherboard, then a 750 Ti may run well. Running an OEM system on a barely sufficient enough power supply drawing power through the PCIe slot is not a good idea. It may run. It may run for a week then burn out the card and/or motherboard. It may not boot at all.

it works 100% I tried it .

DELL follows standard specs , and standard specs says the mobo should give 60 watts for PCIe

This is standard . and they work.

and it is not "idea" I am 100% sure it works. because I tried it .

Solution

you dont need to change the power supply . and yes GTX 750 Ti will work on PCIe 2.0

The card does not even have power connector it draws power from the mobo . you dont neeed to change the power.
