Dell Optiplex 3020 vs 3040

I was looking at the two systems from dell, and was wondering if anyone know if they can major pitfalls with getting the 3020 over the 3040 series. I know the 3020 is an older series, but the specs look similar. Any suggestions?

Also, I have to buy this series, I cannot deviate - so it is the only choice I have through my company. Thank you in advance.

Small form factor or tower?

What processor in each?

If they give you a choice, request a tower (much less noisy when worked hard - the small form factors scream) and i5. The 3040 looks to be Skylake vs Haswell (3020), so marginally better performance, but you probably won't notice.
