Hi there, just looking for a little bit of help, i`ve bought a dell optiplex 3050 MT and also bought a Nvidia GT 1030 graphics card. After installing the graphics card the computer doesn`t power up with the card inside. I`ve found that the PSU is 240w and it`s recommended that a 300w PSU is needed - I don`t really want to send the computer back so was looking for any alternatives for a graphics card - it needs to be a budget one!

From the looks of things, the PSU in that system looks proprietary. It's one of the reasons we don't suggest buying a prebuilt and then tampering with it. it also voids your warranty. It's also another way for the manufactures to prevent aftermarket modifications to their units to safeguard the company from false claims.

To that note, if you can't get a GT1030 to work then it's a no go for older cards since they will have similar, if not more, than the 300W PSU requirement. GTX750ti being a prime example.
