HI Guys,

I tried to boot using uefi and now my computer doesent even get as far as the bios, no Dell splash screen...nothing. just a blank screen. Can anyone advise me what I can do please?

Try the BIOS reset jumper. Then see if you can get into Safe mode (F8). You may have created a UEFI mismatch with your GPU that prevents it from showing anything. 7010 should be UEFI by default, Dell has had UEFI since at least Optiplex 780. Any GPU should run in Safe Mode without any drivers ( except newer AMDs that won't display the Dell BIOS screen). If you can get the BIOS reset, then enter Safe Mode, you should be able to remove and reinstall GPU drivers. You didn't say what GPU you had, or why you were "using" UEFI.
Here's a link to the Owners Manual.

Here are system builds for that computer. You will notice almost no AMD GPUs there.

I have just tried to boot with the pswd jumper taken off (to reset the bios) then placed the jumper back on, and I still havent got anything on the screen. It seems to be stuck before the bios and dell splash screen.
Ive just updated it to the new bios that dell suggested, after updating it windows wouldnt load so i entered the bios to take a look and everything was o, so i rebooted the computer and it went to a hdd diagnostic screen where I tried to boot it using "uefi secure boot on" setting. after this I didnt get anything again.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

I have also just put a jumper on the RTCRST pins, to reset the bios and still nothing.
I took the memory out and tried to boot it and got the usual error code. but then I replace the memory and boot it....nothing. the white led on the power switch is solid white, no errors.

You might see if it can boot from a Linux Live DVD. This can be done with the HDD unplugged. Just DVD and RAM. It would eliminate one variable. PSU swap maybe? The PSU might be detecting a problem and bailing out. But that usually gives an orange error light.
Dell BIOS updates usually load from in Windows. Did you do it that way or with a bootable DOS USB stick?

HI I updated the bios from within windows.
It does access the HDD at the very start of turning on then no activity from the HDD at all.
I have put a windows install disc in and it seems to access the disk but stops before anything loads.

As an update to this problem, out of desperation after trying everything, I replaced the monitor with another one, even though the monitor I was using worked perfectly well. And as soon as I plugged it in the dell splash screen came on and it booted into the bios. So I then plugged the original monitor in and the dell splash screen was there too. so I have no idea what the problem was but its all sorted now.
