So I have a optiplex 740 big tower with a new graphics card. I play games on it mostly free mmorpgs and wow, and the one problem I have is the processor is way too slow. It's a AM2 socket processor and I've been told some am2 motherboards can be converted to work with am3 sockets which is what I'd like but this one cannot. Does anyone know of a cheap way to upgrade this motherboard and processor without changing out literally everything?

I have a AMD Athalon 64 X2 Dual core precessor 4800+
2 GB of RAM
250 GB of hard drive which i am changing out for 1TB hard drive for movie storage

You can upgrade it to Amd Athlon II x4 630 Propus see here for proof http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19423352.aspx#19997027

This is a big jump.

What OS you have, and is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

I have windows 7 32bit
also forgot to mention imy video card is a geforce GT 610

Found a Amd Athlon II x4 630 on ebay for $60 and its on its way to me. :ange:
Final questions:
do I need to upgrade my heatsink fan at all?
What graphics card do u highly recommend for budget gaming but can power most games at a higher quality? be nice if i didn't need to replace my power source if possible which is a 305W.

Thanks for all the help ill be back to ask more question later on for sure!!
