I'm helping a friend upgrade their computer. Though a combination of Luck, Scattered Knowledge, and returns, I have a good track record building computers. However this friend moved a few states away, and they have severe social anxiety. Even going to the post office to return it might be too much for them. So I'm double checking with the fine people here before OK-ing the purchase.

This PDF says the motherboard can take:
(2x2GB)
DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: DDR2 800 (with 6-6-6 latency)
1.8V

This RAM matches those specifications, but I have 2 questions:

1) This RAM is 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM, is that conflicting?

2) This RAM has a speed of DDR2 800 (with 5-5-5 latency)(versus 6-6-6), will that render it incompatible?

Thank You very much for your help!

DDR2 memory modules have 240 pins. That is the standard.

Lower CAS latency should not be a problem. However, there seems to be conflicting information, in that some specifications say 2 GB 800 MHz memory is NOT compatible with this system, and yet there are 2 GB 800 MHz memory modules listed at some memory manufacturer websites as being compatible?

The only way to be certain is to try the 2 GB 800 MHz modules (whether single 2 GB modules or 2 x 2 GB modules). If incompatible then return them.

It is noted that if 2 GB 800 MHz modules work, the maximum system memory capacity is limited to 4 GB (@ 800 MHz). To get the maximum system memory capacity of 8 GB requires modules running no faster than 667 MHz.
