my dell optiplex 755 had Orange light flashing and wont come on. there is a red black and yellow connection not hook to anything. from what ive seen online i think its an 4-pin peripheral power connector. could that be what causing it and could you tell me where it goes in dummy term

Hi

Is this a newly aquired old pc or an existing pc that has suddenly stopped working?

The 4 pin plug with 2 black a red and yellow wires is for old style hard disks or dvd drives (ata not pata) , case fans etc and is a spare cable.

On old dell desktops the orange led often indicated a motherboard fault such as bad capacitors near to the cpu
Is the orange led at front or rear of the case?

Dell has very good service manuals compared to most other manufacturers who only make user guides available.
It may say what the orange led flashes mean

Another fault to check relates to the 4 pin 12 v atx plug and socket on the motherboard. Make sure there is no sign of burning or melting or the system wont start up or only works intermitantly

(2 Black and 2 yellow wires.)

If opening the case ensure you disconnect the pc from the mains first
