Hi, im new to the forums.
i have a dell optiplex 760 usff (ultra slim form factor)
it has a crappy intel integrated graphics card
i was wondering if i could change the motherboard with something that supports a graphics card and possibly upgrade the cpu in it.
i realize ill probably have to change the case.
specs:
cpu: core 2 duo 3.0 ghz
4gb ram
intel graphics accelerator 4500

Solution
1) That dell is the BTX format, http://www.avocomp.hu/media/product_1784/ultra-kicsi/dsc5933.JPG you can see the i/o shield back plate can not be removed so that you can change the case, because each MB has their own one.
2) The dell comes with the 220W PSU too, you needs get the low profile and low power consumption GPU.

So you are better to get the whole new PC if you want the gaming PC, and forget the cpu upgrading too, because the lga 775 type is old. If you use it for daily usage, just let it alone.

I don't add the GPU, because I don't know you like AMD or Nvidia brand.
Also I chose the Z170 for the i5 6500, because you can use the 2400nhz RAM and the price is similar to the H170.
For GPU, either AMD r9 380 or gtx 960, they have similar performances.

If you want add the gtx970, but you may over the $1000 budget. One more you can buy the bigger size SSD too, like the 500GB one. And this PC will last for a while.
