Dell Optiplex 9010 PCI-E Watt Limit?

Bought a system and plan on upgrading the PSU / GPU. Here is a pic with the specs posted in the title.

1) Do you think this was a good deal?

2) I've heard that in alot of Dell Optiplex's, the motherboard's PCI-E slot only supports up to 35 watts (Dell Optiplex 960/990, etc). Is this the same case with the Optiplex 9010? There is no information on the specific motherboard it is using.

1.) Yeah, that's a pretty solid deal.

2.) I'd imagine that it'd be the same. In any case, I wouldn't risk getting a higher wattage card. The GT 1030 only draws 30 watts, so that could be a solid option.

It says supports optional discrete graphics solutions from AMD and NVidia (MT and SFF Only).

Your picture shows the SFF (small form factor) model.

Just make sure your graphics card fits and that you stay within the wattage of the power supply.
(geforce 1050 and other cards that dont require more than 60 watts)

The limiting factor is not the slot, it is a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot so it supports up to 75 watts. The limiting factor is the PSU which is only 200W. That if where you will hit a wall.

It should, but you'd have to make sure the PSU could fit in that case if you're holding onto it.

There are alot of threads / videos explaining that Dell has a 35 watt limit on the PCI slot for some of the Optiplex builds.

On page 55-57 of the manual there is no mention of any PCIe slot power limit. You should be good to go.

EVGA list s a 650W SFX PSU but IIDK if it's confirmed in a Dell SFF.

There is always a PCIe power limit, it's not like it'll just deliver whatever you want it to. Like OP said, there are plenty of threads and videos explaining that the limit is 35W.

If it is limited it should be stenciled on the MB next to the PCIe 16x slot. Some have it some don't. The normal limit is 75W which won't be stenciled, or mentioned in the manual because it's the default PCIe 16x limit. Many people report success ignoring the limit, but that's up to the individual if they want to try that.

Wouldn't the Watt limit only be an issue if the GPU is powered only by the motherboard? Is it a 35 watt input or output limit?

The Optiplexes don't have any other power available for the GPU. Also there are no modern GPUs that come in Low profile that require more than 75W power. This will get you up to GTX1050Ti 4GB.
