I recently started making a PC using a Dell Optliplex 790 motherboard, although when it came to fitting it into the case, the front I/O cables wouldn't fit into there places of the Dell (they are too big). From what I have read, this is due to Dell products being separate from others, although haven't found a solution. Can I make a connection by using wire to connect the cables to the pins? Can I take of the bracket surrounding the pins, and even then will the wires fit? Are there any adapters you can buy? Any help would be much appreciated!

A synonym of "Optiplex" is "Proprietary".

There are no standard cross over adapters, default ways to make it work, or other ways of merging that motherboard into a standard ATX case, or that Dell case with a standard ATX motherboard.

Put it back in the original case and proceed on.
The best way touse that MB is in the Dell it came in. I'm not being snarky. if you need to do this you will want the front I/O panel and the Dell cable that goes with it. Dell puts warning lights, temperature sensors etc. there, and doesn't publish the pinouts. they change them all the time.
