Dell optiplex mother board swap

Solution
I wouldn't try unless you have access to that other motherboard for free and had nothing to lose if it didn't work. It could work. Dell motherboards are proprietary and they generally only work in the case they were originally installed in. There are many things that could go wrong: Motherboard size, slots not lining up with the back of the case, connectors like PSU and front panel headers not matching. Not only that but swapping the motherboard will invalidate your Windows license.

I think they changed the front I/O features, and cable pinout in between those 2. A 760/780 swap would be OK but the 755 is different. Also the rear I/O is built into the case, and the rear features are different so some metal work there. If you can swap the front I/O board, and use the 780 cable it might work. Look at photos of the 2 front boards. Maybe a 760 front board would help the swap. Not sure.
Easier just to get a 780MT is my suggestion.
