Hi everyone

I recently (a month ago) bought a cheap dell optiplex 755 for some temporary work because my main machine has some stuff that should be replaced which is why i no longer use it and opted for a temporary pc, but recently it started giving me an orange light without booting, i googled and found that it's a serious issue in dell pcs pointing out to a psu or a motherboard problem, i did some testing and figured out its a mobo issue, what a i don't understand is that it works from time to time, like sometimes when i plug the power cord it starts with an orange light and a loud fan, no matter what i do the orange/amber power light wont go away, but strangely, if i keep the computer with an unpluted power cord for like 12+ hours, and after i plug the cord back to try, the green light returns and it boots normaly and i can use it without fail (im not certain but it must be a long period i tried like after 4 hours but it didnt boot), when i turn it off after the successful boots, the amber light returns shortly after powering it down.

This really got me confused, if a mobo is dead it should be dead, an amber light in dell pcs is likely a dead motherboard, but mine still works.

If any one has any idea about what might cause this behaviour and whether it can be fixed or not pls help, your replies are appreciated.

What's a flaky bios ?, and how do i flash it? If by flashing it you mean removing the circular battery and reinstalling it in position i have already done this.

flaky is a jargon, it means maybe the bios information is corrupted in a way or another.
most motherboards permit you to download a fresh copy of the bios (or an updated one) for oyur motherboard
and flashing it just refreshes the programing inside the bios chip
I suggested is because if is easy to perform and cost nothing.

How do i flash it ? Thanks btw
