are Dell optiplexes good for gaming, Is it a good idea to take a optiplex and turn it into a gaming PC

It's according to the form factor. The SFF ones, no. Sometimes the DT can be workable, but more often want the MT model to fit a good GPU in.

Yes using a Dell optiplex 7010 big box (i5-3570 3.4 ghz) is it any good for turning into a gaming PC and will it last will it stop working after a few months after upgrades are added

So, first check how much room you have at your PCI slot. IE, will you have 2 slots to utilize for room for the card. Most modern cards of decent performance will need that much room. The GPU will install level with that slot and take up room below it.

Second, you will likely need to swap your PSU for something in line with the recommends on your selected GPU.

That build should be serviceable for some 1080/medium gaming.

Good yes there are 2 slots one blue and one black one should i just use one (new to computers)

The card will only plug into one slot, but with the cooler and fans will take up the room of two.
