hi, i have a dell optiplex 7010sff slimtower
i was wondering if i can build a custom pc inside it if i take out every proprietary part from the case and replace it with standard ones. i dont need front io if i replace the powerbutton i think i should be able to build a sleeper pc in the case because i like the way it looks. i was thinking mini itx motherboard and lowprofile graphics card new tfx psu . and all of it should fit and boot.

So you for sure have the DT (4 expansion slots) and not the SFF (2 expansion slots) as originally stated?

You really only need the end terminals for the power/reset/hdd wires. IIRC, the 7010 comes with all those wires connected in a block that you attach to the mobo. Simply cut the block off and splice on the standardized connectors to each wire and you can just plug them into a mobo normally. This method will preserve the front panel as stock.
Measure the pattern of the motherboard mounting screws against a standard ITX pattern.

What size power supply does the case require? Looks like TFX

You're going to be limited to a low- profile GPU.

Something like a Fractal Design Node 202 would be a more attractive choice IMO.

I cannot recall the specifics of one called Slim Tower, and can't seem to find a picture.

DT is half height. SFF typically is not. The other issue I have run across with both of these is that the PCI-E slot is right against the PSU, so there is no room.

Check what tennis2 mentioned as well, but if the case isn't at least half height, and unless you are considering an external power brick there may be limitations.

Ok, can i also take out my current pc parts and power button and replace them with standard parts? because the ebay powerbutton is the same size as my current one since the only thing from the front i use is the powerbutton i never use front io.
