dell power edge 2900 trouble.

i am new to servers and i got this dell 2900 server on Craigslist. i am trying to install windows server 2012 r2 as i go to the installation windows can not find any hard rives nether both the SAS drives or Sata drives. i don't know what to do.

Go to Dell Support site, find your server model (you can search by "Service Tag"), and download all manuals, and supporting tools. See what OSes are supported, and start there. You might need to download RAID drivers on a floppy / USB disk in order to install OS.

If you have a dell perc 5/6 raid card you'll need to put the raid drivers on the install usb first. Those can be found on the dell website.

This depends on what kind of RAID controller you have. I don't know, and probably Dell don't know either. Again - use "Service Tag" to go to list of supported drivers.

You probably have a spare small HDD Lying around. Put it inside (there should be on-board SATA connector), and install OS on that drive. You'll make your life much easier that way.

i tried that before and it also wont detect the Sata drive also
