Hello all - first post - but have been a reader for a while. I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 with a Xeon 3.00Ghz processor and it is currently running ESX 3.5 in a 32-bit environment. It is a really well endowed machine with +++RAM and +++DISK in a large array. I want to move to ESX 4.0 in a 64-bit environment but I know the CPU is not supported. I am looking for a cheap"ish" way to move this machine to 64-bit without having to refresh memory and my RAID controller. Any ideas? Can I replace with motherboard with something else?
The VMWare CPUID utility states the processor is Intel Xeon 3.0ghz - family 0f - model 04 - stepping 3
Help is appreciated.
