Dell poweredge 1950

yo guys i wonder you could help me i just brought my self a Dell poweredge 1950 cheap off ebay , i wonder what is the best os to put on it ? comes with no hdd but i am putting one on , any suggestion ? also i got a
PCI-E 8X to 16X Slot Riser Card for it for a low profile gpu , my friend got one and he put windows 8.1 on so not sure what to do

The PE1950 is an old dog, and being a 1U server it has very small and very noisy fans. It also uses fully buffered DDR2 which can be a pain to get a hold of. I would not recommend it as a desktop replacement.

I wouldn't recommend it as a desktop of any sort. Put a server OS on it, create a domain and learn some Group Policy.
