Question Dell Precision T3500 Raid Controller

Basically just looking to use my SATA II drives at closer to SATA III speeds. Looking at the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9265 or smaller memory 9260→ https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816118160

Any ideas or experience with these controllers?

Will you be using Raid or are you planning on flashing to to IT mode?

Not interested in using RAID and would flash it IT mode if possible. Haven't got that far yet.

I don't have any experience with it but the Dell BIOS on those supports RAID 0.

Since you would like IT mode, as I thought you might, then you need a different card.
The LSI 9240 or 9220/9240 are the choice for those. I would begin reading up Here

Hi popatim, I grabbed an IBM Serveraid M1015 off the bay, but I do have a question about that if you can help. I'll flash it to IT mode, but will I be able to boot from that card?

Yes, as long as you install the boot rom when you flash it.

Is the boot rom installed as part of the LSI9211-IT mode flash?

You have both options available. You can have a plain no-"boot ROM" HBA or you can flash the ROM if you want. Mine has the ROM. It does add time to the boot sequence but its not very long.
