Dell Precision T5500 2x Xeon X5650 for 4k Editing and Encoding

I have been editing 4k projects on an old Inspiron 15R SE laptop with an i7-3612QM 2.1 Ghz processor and an amazingly weak AMD Radeon 7730.

The editing is slow and the render/encoding/exporting times sometimes go for several days.

I have an opportunity to trade it straight up for an old Dell Precision T5500 workstation in excellent working order with the following specs:

2x Xeon 6 Core (X5650) 2.66 GHz
12 GB (6x 2GB)
Nvidia Quadro 4000 (2048 MB)

Would I be able to get a gpu that could get me a 3840x2160 display and increase the graphical capability of the system?

If so, what are some of my options? If not, what are my "best case" options?

Yes you would be able to edit on it.

Of course disk speed is an important factor as well.

I use a similar setup but with a raid array.
