Okay so basically I'm having Dell N5010 model and I replaced SSD with the optical drive. I tried to install a new windows there and I got the famous problem of "windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computer's hardware may not support booting" in which I searched online a lot. Here are the fixes I tried.

1- Change from AHCI to ATA
- Did not work.

2- Change back from ATA to AHCI
- Also did not work and ended up ruining the windows on the HDD.

3- Change UEFI
- (There is no UEFI in bios)

4- Change boot order
- Also not working

I am really lost and not sure what to do now. The issue is bugging me and I can't seem to install the windows on the new SSD. It allows me to reinstall it on the HDD, but not the SSD...

Any tips please?!

Are there any specific settings available in your BIOS regarding specific SATA ports?
You may be able to enable/disable them (although if disabled, the SSD wouldn't show).

Since the drive shows up, a 'solution' might be to replace the HDD with the SSD, install Windows and then populate the optical drive bay with the old HDD for bulk storage - doesn't matter if it supports booting this way.

Well, there is nothing in BIOS regarding SATA that would make it work. As you said, disabling would allow SSD to not be shown. For the replacement part then I'm not sure because this model requires you to remove everything and some people reported that it still didn't work.

I just changed my optical to SSD and it worked with no problems at all. I don't know what's wrong with Dell tbh
