Dell studio 1550 power up and ac problem

Hi,Dell studio 1550 won’t run on ac adaptor and has an additional issue with shutting down in use

Either;
your AC/DC or DC/DC power is shot, it needs physical repair
the battery is causing a minor short somewhere and needs to be replaced.

remove the battery and see if the unit runs on AC would be the first step.
