I plan to upgrade my Dell Studio XPS 435MT with a new Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 graphics card. My motherboard only has a PCI Express x16 2.0 slot and the 760 is a 3.0, but it will still work, am I correct? Apart from that, I need to upgrade my power supply as the current one is inadequate. Could someone recommend a decent enough power supply that won't be to expensive? Thanks for the help.

The install was flawless, easiest of all installs so far. Fit easily in the case. The GTX 760 needed both PCI-e power cords but my case only supports one card anyway.

PC has been running like Swiss watch for over a week. I suppose make sure you have BIOS 1.1.4.

Fantastic Card :) !!

Hi Ap0996 ,

You are right in saying the GTX 760 would work on your PC as PCI X 3.0 is backward compatible – But it would work at a lower speed (PCI x 2.0).You will have to upgrade the PSU ( Currently using 360 W ) As it does not meet the minimum requirement for the card 500W with two 6 Pin connector. You can consider the following as an upgrade for PSU.

Any ATX compatible power supply will fit, however not any is recommended, avoid no name power supplies - it may ruin your PC or even put it on fire.
Generally follow this ranking guide http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

I would recommend CORSAIR CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply $69.99, $49.99 after $20.00 rebate card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050
Modular will help you to get rid of unnecessary cables to reduce clutter in the case.

Anything else I can help you with?

I've got an Dell Studio XPS 435MT and upgraded it with a nVidia GTX 960 and it is working great!! All running on the stock PSU of 360W (including 9 Gb RAM, 2 HDDs, 1 SSD, 1 USB 3.0 Controller).

The PC came with a Radeon 4850 but the GPU died after a couple of years and I replaced it with a GTX 550 TI (116w) which was fine at the time, but now with an MSI GTX 960 (120w) I can play today's games with decent grapics and frame rates. Passmark GPU score around 5600. I am very happy and hope others can use this information.
