Our Dell Studio XPS 7100's Radeon 5770 recently died and we are currently running with the on-board video. It has the 470 Watt PSU w/ extra 6 pin connectors. I was planning on replacing it with an Asus Strix GTX 750 ti or Asus Strix GTX 950, but I've read something about potential bios issues and UEFI. Will either of the cards work with the Dell and is UEFI something to be concerned about?

Another machine that was homebuilt has an Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard, Corsair 750 PSU with an Asus GTX 550 ti. Was considering upgrading to a GTX 950 or 970 Again, is UEFI an issue to be concerned with?

Both systems are running Windows 7.

Thanks in advance!

A couple have a switch to change between UEFI and legacy BIOS. This GTX 750 Ti is one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127783&cm_re=msi_750-_-14-127-783-_-Product
A few will auto switch when it detects the board's BIOS. but I don't know which ones those are. Almost all modern cards today have a UEFI BIOS, and most are compatible with older legacy board's BIOSs. But of course, not all.

I have a 775 socket...

Thanks for the reply.

Is there a switch on the card for UEFI vs legacy BIOS?

I have a 775 socket board similar to yours that refuses to work with an AMD R7-370, yet has no problem with a GTX 750 Ti or a GTX 960 (all 3 cards have UEFI BIOS).
