Hey guys just looking for some help here before I rip my hair out >.<;;

I recently have seen a couple threads on here of people upgrading Dell Studio XPS 9100's with a gtx 970 and they all seemed like successes so I purchased one.

I originally had a evga gtx 470 in there and it has a stock 525w PSU.

anyway, fast forward a bit; got the GPU installed, shows up in my devices and everything seems good but when i go to watch videos or even play games at 1080p they seem kind of blotchy or washed like it's not properly working.

boot time was also slow at first but that seems to of gone away or at least it feels like it.

Am I doing anything wrong here? I used DDU to remove old drivers and did a fresh new driver install from the nvidia driver downloads.

just looking for ANY advice at this point.

I assume you didn't use DDU and uninstalled your previous GPU drivers(for both the iGPU and the dedicated devices) before dropping in the new GPU and then installing the latest Nvidia drivers?

I doubt at this point of time that the 525W PSU is capable of outputting that peak power and to me it seems like it's more in the 400W range. Mind sharing a link to the model of your unit? Searches come up bland when looking for XPS 9109 systems.

sorry that was a type it's actuall a studio xps 9100.

and I did use DDU and i uninstalled everything then replugged in my GPU and did a fresh nvidia driver install like people were saying to do online.

I mean i'm playing pubg rn and it's running but forcing me to play on pretty low settings.

and I noticed youtube videos at 1080p were looking worse than with my gtx 470.

1| Please pass on an SKU for your unit in order to understand if the rest of your parts aren't bottlenecking your GPU.
2| If you can't provide an SK, then please list your full system's specs inclusive of your OS.
3| Are you sure you're on the latest BIOS revision?

so my specs are as follows.

OS: windows 10 Pro
system model: studio xps 9100
manufacturer: dell
64 bit
12gb RAM
system SKU : 0
processor : i7 960 3.20ghz quadcore
BIOS version : A04

GPU: Nvidia GTX GeForce 970 (msi frozr model)
resolution 1920x1080 @60 hertz

and my power supply is the stock dell 525w

what would be the best way for me to record a video for you? through OBS?

what I mean is that when i when I'm wathing videos or even twitch since I changed the gpu, nothing seems as crispy, everything looks like somewhat watered down.

the desktop and text all look fine.

if anyone has ANY ideas it would be greatly appreciated, I know others have had no problem running this card on my CPU
