dell studio xps question

is it possible to upgrade a old dell studio xps thats around 7-8 years old?

see this is a question that ive been wondering for a good while. heres the specs:
6 sockets with 1 gb memory in each with 1066Mhz
intel core i7 processor quad core
500gb HDD
originally windows vista, but was upgraded to windows 7 and then windows 10.

"Upgrading" a "7-8 years old" computer would involve new motherboard, CPU at least. I would let the guy die with dignity, and start new build.
