I have a dell T3500 with a Nvidia Quadro 4000 and want to upgrade to a Gtx 1080, but I don’t know what PCI Express slots I have. I know 3.0 gpus will work in a 2.0 slot but I want to be sure before spending $500. Thank you.
Does your Dell have a Service Tag Number? Should be on a sticker on the back of it. (or go here http://www.dell.com/support/contents/us/en/04/article/product-support/self-support-knowledgebase/locate-service-tag/Desktops)
Anyway, once you have that service tag number, you can get on the Dell website, connect to customer support, and they can tell you precisely what is in the precise computer you have.

Ok thank you I just didn’t know if there was any other way my computer is out of warranty and I didn’t want to have to go through them trying to sell me warranty.
Your first contact with customer service should be short and simple, you only need to explain to them what you're trying to do. One of my computers is a Dell, and I've had very good success with there CS dpt.
