I found 2 dell t5500 price differennce is very small one has a 4 core x5677 and one with 6 core x5650. which is better for gaming ?

Well, the 5677 certainly has the faster clock speeds, so hands down it wins for the vast majority of games. (Most games still rely on a single primary thread) If you are looking at playing newer titles, then the 6 cores might come in handy. Or if you intend any form of multitasking. Going to be a trade off either way.

5677 uses about half as much more power, so it will need superior cooling, or it will run hotter.

yeah get the higher clocked cpu
If you plan on getting a newer GPU you also need to check if it will fit into the case
and if the PSU is powerful enough
the PCI Express 2.0 x16 should be enough for newer midrange gpus

It also depends on how much you are going to pay for them
Personally I'd rather get a system with a Sandybridge i7 in an ATX case and a 500W+ psu

I plan to use a r9 290x with it and i play all the new titles it will be my main pc. All i care about is games so should i go 5677?

Those are very expensive in my country. the t5500 has a 875watt psu for a very good price. is higher clocked 4 core better than lower clock 6 core for gaming?

I think so, even older quad cores are still up to the task, hyperthreading just lets them last a little longer in the latest games. Battlefield 1, and 5 use up to 7 threads, heavily and more if they can get them. I'm sure that is true for other recent titles that don't use Frostbite. But anything a little older, or just intended to be light, tend to be designed for dual cores and quad cores that are found in most laptops.

R9-290X is a little dated, but still pretty good for the right price.

Only justification for the hex core would be if you plan on running multiple games clients for an MMO, or if you are into video streaming, or other things that require more than the average CPU load.

I dont play any mmo mostly fps and games like witcher. I think i can go for a x5677 then upgrade in the future to dual x5677 or get a single x5690 which has the highest clocked 6 core.

pretty sure dual CPU is not a thing for gaming
at least 99% of the games only use 1 CPU so it doesn't matter how many cpus you put onto your motherboard the game will only use 1 CPU
and yes that higher clocked 4core 8thread cpu will beat any lower clocked 6core in fps games

have you found out the case is big enough for that R9 290x?

yes it fits any gpu and the psu is 875 watts. so I should go x5677 instead with 4 cores instead of x5650?
