So I have been looking at the Dell t5810 manual but the way it talks about the board lanes and location it's all wrong. The CPU is a e5-1660 v3 comes with 40 pcie lanes. The manual is clearly wrong about lanes and slots when u look at it u see it list pci slot has a pcie x16 slot and I can see that is wrong. It has two GPU pcie x16 slots colored different than the rest. I think those are wired to the CPU. Does any one know if this is correct? Also has any one done a nvme boot setup. What nvme adapters do u guys use? I have looked at the Asus hyper m.2 but from reading sounds like Intel drives only.

Can you link what you're seeing that you think is wrong?

I see:
SLOT1 PCI Express 3.0 x8, 8 GB/s
SLOT2 PCI Express 3.0 x16, 16 GB/s
SLOT3 PCI Express 2.0 x1, 0.5 GB/s
SLOT4 PCI Express 3.0 x16, 16 GB/s
SLOT5 PCI Express 2.0 x4, 2 GB/s
SLOT6 PCI 2.3 (32 bit, 33 MHz), 133 MB/s

Looking at an image of the board, the two slots with blue tabs are x16 Gen3.

Looking at the board and reading it i can see it was Dell who put the info in there pdf manual they just number the board backwards. That is good news. Any one know if this motherboard can handle 2 or more nvme per pcie x16 slot? I'm building a video editing rig and want to run all the drives for storage and os ssd on nvme cards. This thing could be crazy fast if so. 8 core 16 thread 3.5giga with 32 gigs of ram with vega frontier 16gb vram buffer. Just par I need is the storage option.

Sorry, I totally forgot to address the NVMe question.

There was no option from the factory with NVME, so it'll boil down to BIOS support for NVMe booting..... Haswell-era chips were the first to support it natively on the chipset, but that was consumer (Z87, Z97)... I would suspect it can support NVMe booting, but have no way to verify.

As for 2x on a single PCIe slot, with the right adapter (housing two or more), and the appropriate PCIe lanes available (x8 for 2x x4 NVMe drives), then yes, I see no reason it wouldn't.

They've denoted them correctly (slot 6, slot 5 etc) in the description, and labelled left to right in the image (1-6).
I don't see any typo there.

Ideally, you'd want to use slot #1, nearest the memory.
PCIe x16 slot (PCIe 3.0 wired as x8) (slot 1)

It's a 3.0 x8 slot, which would be perfect for 2x x4 NVMe drives, without impacting the full 3.0 x16 slots.
