Dell U2312HM vs. Eizo FS2332

I'm on the lookout for a new monitor, and I've narrowed it down to one of these.

The Dell costs 100$ less, and to me it looks much better and has the option to raise the screen.
The Eizo is simply put better quality incl. the image and comes with a 5 year factory guarantee.

So I need some help to choose. Is the quality of the Eizo worth paying 100$ (33%) more?

I'm upgrading from an old Samsung SyncMaster 226BW. Compared to this I really do need to raise the screen-hight around 2-4 inches. This can probably be done with the use of a book "stand" though.

I'm gonna use the monitor for Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, League of Legends and for watching movies and YouTube videos etc.
I only play FPS at the annual LAN party.

Are you sure the Eizo FS2332 is only around $100 more than the Dell U2312? The Eizo FS2332 typically sells for $500 - $600. The Eizo FS2332 uses a H-IPS LCD panel while the Dell u2312 use the less expensive e-IPS panel.

I too prefer a monitor with adjustable height, but at least the Eizo can accept a VESA mount compatible so you can add a height adjustable stand later. The main problem I have with the Eizo is that you need the remote to access the OSD menu. The monitor itself does not have a button you can simply push to get to the monitor's menu. So if you loose the remote or it breaks then you need to buy a replacement from Eizo to access the menu.

Other than the remote control issue, I would likely buy the Eizo over the Dell if the price difference is really only around $100 more.

I really hadn't thought about that remote control - hmm that's kinda a drawback. But hopefully the 5 year guarantee also cover this if it breaks?

And yeah, the Dell costs ~300$ and the Eizo ~400$ (I live in Denmark). That is the one without the photo edit software.

I've read people complain about grained/dirty image on the Dell, so I think I'm leaning towards the Eizo.

Yeah, the remote will be covered by the warranty.

The grainy / dirty image is actually due to the anti glare coating. Since both monitors have matte finishes, they both have an anti glare coating. Therefore, images on the Eizo may appear "dirty" as well. Generally speaking, the thicker the AG coating, the more "dirty" images can look.

I've now set my eyes on the ASUS PA238Q - It's seems to be just what I was looking for. Nearly as good as the Eizo but with adjustment options and better design.

Actually I've become quite sure I'm gonna get it tomorrow - unless someone has something to say?
