Dell venue 8 pro wifi problem

i dont have this tablet atm but person that has it cant connect to wifi. He says that is spot where there should be wifi icon there is written instead "unavailable", what may be the issue?

is somehow the airplane mode is on? if it is, make sure it turned off. and sometime a reboot would fix that.
