Dell vs. HP project

I'm currently doing a project in school where I have to compare both Dell's and HP's computers on the criteria of price, reliability, customer support and in terms of what the computer is generally used for. Can you guys give me info on your experience with either one?

You should probably look at graphs and surveys from a much bigger sample of people than just people in the forums of Tomshardware. Try to find yearly failures amongst Dell and HP computers. Also, most people on here don't like Dell. However, HP computers have given me nothing but trouble. Dell computers work fine for me, so my vote goes to them. Also(again), are you including companies owned by HP or Dell like Alienware or Compaq?

Currently, I'm focusing the project on the OptiPlex and Pro brands, so just Dell and HP only.
