Hi all,

I have this XPS 420 that I have an issue with the sound. I've tried downloading the drivers from the Dell website (anything listed under XP, and Vista 32), but all of them are saying the device doesn't exist. I tried scouring the net online for hours, even based on the Hardware ID and can't seem to locate the right driver.

Can anyone assist? I've attached some screenshots that could help.

Why would you install windows xp?
That pc should be perfectly capable of running windows 7.

Anyway - your pc needs chipset drivers for Intel x38 chipset.

It's actually for a family relative who has a game that doesn't "run right" as he put it (very non tech savvy) in Windows 7, as the game originated in Windows XP. So he was adamant on getting a Windows XP machine.

I'll try the chipset drivers, but didn't think that would assist with the audio.
