Dell XPS 435t 12gig Ram Limit?

I have a dell xps 435t, with a i7 920. I have 18 gig of ram installed, but windows 7 pro says only 12 is usable. I called dell and they said that 12 is the limit.

is there a way to change that? so i can get the 24 gigs? or would I have to get a new motherboard?

I would stick with 12 gb. You change boards and your dell windows installation won't load.

well i already dont use there windows. I have my own win7 pro
