I am in the midst of putting together one of my most advantageous builds yet, I am converting my first PC the Dell XPS 710 into a functional pc, and attempting to put a XBOX 360 inside it aswell.

So far I have the inside of the PC Case gutted out and have converted it to a ATX chassis, but before I put my system inside I want to make sure I can power on the machine from the outside and control the LED's. I also want to mount a 360 slim inside a use the my XFX XTS 1000W PSU to power the whole thing (its fully modular)( I have a more powerful PSU also but I would rather just use this one).

I will be posting updates on the progress but right now the to do list is.

1.Power switch/LED control
2.Power Xbox with ATX PSU
3.Power switch for Xbox
4.Mount Xbox
5.Fans & LEDS
6.(optional) replace certain plastic fixtures on case.
7.install PC components.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I really would appreciate some help/direction with the first 3. Thank you updates and photos coming later tonight/tomorrow.

For power for the XBox, I would just use a wireless controller to turn it on and off. The power button is a touch sensitive button with a very fine ribbon cable. I don't know how to convert that into an analog switch. The original 360, you could rewire the button to an external button as it used a physical momentary switch.

The drive inside is a SATA drive, so mounting that in a bay wouldn't be too hard if you take it out, just a SATA cable and extend the power cable wires to get it in a bay.

What is the point of the 360 in the case though? ARe you going to have an HDMI switchbox inside to switch output from PC or 360, or just an HDMI cable hanging out the back to plug in the 360 in addition to the PC?

Most people integrate for a reason, and this needs one.

Myself, If I was to do it, I would put a capture card in the PC, then route the 360 output to the capture card inside, so I could play the 360 through the PC, so whatever the PC is hooked up to it, it could play 360 games or PC games all from 1 system.

The capture card idea is good as long as it wouldn't have to be on all the time. I was considering using something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Generic-HDMI-Female-Adapter-Coupler/dp/B001VO4MOY

A HDMI female to female adapter, but I was hoping to find one that could lock into the back panel where the GPU HDMI ports would be. That would be my ideal, instead of having a rouge HDMI Cable flying out the back of this machine.

So far I've just tightened some screws and put a little bit of hardware I had laying around to see if everything really would fit. I stopped by my local Microcenter and they didn't have anything I needed at the moment and everything there was so overpriced that I decided it was a waste to pick from their selection.

I found a few guides on how to convert the Xbox 360 PSU to use my ATX PSU, thankfully its fully modular which means I just need another 22/20 pin power cord, to make all the connections that come out of the Xbox 360's cord.

(will add more later, I had more.)

As for the power switch on the front I'm still looking into a solution for that.
As for mounting the 360 I'm thinking of solutions to that, but so far I'm thinking I may elevate it and screw supports to the bottom and top.

Here is a proof of concept, so if you were so inclined just to be extremely lazy with it this is how it could look.

I've continued progress on this build, been silent for a few weeks because of school, but back now with a couple of minor updates.
1st. The XFX PRO 1250 Watt fully mod PSU I had could power both the xbox and pc sufficiently, but the cord I needed to use (to power the xbox requires technical wiring of the right voltage and color on the motherboard cord had both of those) required an
M-B slot (motherboard) which it only had one slot of on the PSU.

This is probably my biggest roadblock seeing as I really want the xbox and PC powered by the same PSU.

2nd. I made a mount to that fits the xbox inside the case but unfortunately it fits just not considering the cords that need to plug into it. So I'm considering mounting the board on the panel that comes off the case or moving the motherboard tray back a couple inches.

Okay so back to my second roadblock, here is an image of it mounted next to a placeholder MOBO that was laying around. I really just need a fresh perspective on this because if I cant find a way of feasibly mounting the Xbox. I might have to cut it from the build and just finish this as a ATX to BTX conversion which would be so much more boring. Help would be great on this.
