Hi all,

I am trying to determine if my current pc will be able to fit either an MSI GTX 970 or an ASUS Strix GTX 970 GPU. My system is a quad core i7 2600 3.4 GHz processor. My current PSU is the stock 460W PSU but I am planning on upgrading to either a 600, 650, or 750 Corsair unit. Will the PC be able to handle the card and will either card physically fit in the case?

Thanks for the help!

That's why they make tape measures.
This card is 10.6" long: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127832
This card is 11" long: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121899
Remove the side panel of your case and measure from the rear expansion slot covers to the first obstruction that will be in the way. Remember the card is two slots wide. That's the only way to know for sure.

If this is what the inside of your case looks like, and there's no HDD in any bays in line with the card, it should fit.

Yes I know. I did measure the inside and found it to have plenty of room for the length but the card is approximately 5.5" tall from the MOBO. For reference, the picture is what the PC looks like. 10.5" to 11" puts me up to the panel on the right hand side. I don't want to buy the card and find it to be too big.
I am hoping to avoid having to switch cases (found out it is rather tricky) or go for a small and possibly worse performing GPU.

exactly, if in doubt, you can always find the height on the card's details and measure it as well from the slot to the case. bus as mentioned, the height is pretty standard and a normal atx case should fit it. the xps pc's are HUGE cases and should fit it no problems.

Unfortunately, I measured the space from the MOBO to the cover and it was approximately 5.5 inches. The GPU's are both 5.5 inches. There is also this metal panel on the right hand side. The hard drive slots and disk drive slots are mounted to this panel. If the length of theGPU exceeds more than 10-10.5 inches it will be under the panel. The distance from the MOBO to the bottom side of the panel is approximately 5.3-5.4 inches. It seems like it would be a tight squeeze. I suppose it just depends on how the card was measured.
